Why BIRD is a hazard in marriage

For ppl who dont know who is bird, bird is our last class rep, Ms lye, who is facing extinction.

Talking about the newly wed Chew couple's beautiful and cosy home....

I read the special TIME issue on the science of romance.

It contains articles that are interesting and enlightening ("interesting" and "englightening" are pet words of Jiamay's). Indeed("indeed" is a petword of Jo neo), these articles have broaden my perspective at sociological, biological, psychological, economical, political and entertainment levels.

Here is one of the research results:
-Married ppl live longer and are healthier thruout those extra years.
-Marriage helps both spouses cope better with stress, though men benefit more than women
-marriage is fattening, particularly for husbands.

So, what has it got to do with bird being a hazard???

it says that-" negative marital interactions such as arguments, name-calling and non-verbal cues like EYE ROLLING lead to increases in cortisol anddecreases in immune and wound healing function.

The immunologist states that : "how often someone ROLLS their EYES at you can predict how often you need to go to the doctor".Not that i want to say(" not that i want to say" is my petphrase),MS LYE can cause ill health even beyond marital interaction. So, pls avoid looking at her eye rolls this festive season.

ANd for the times we experienced looking at her eye rolling stunts.
i hereby, demand a compensation for all. What happen to our birdnest, one person one bottle ms lye. You owed us due to some whining and eye rolling which amounted to $100 plus , accounting interests, i think everyone in class deserves a small bottle.
PAy up or i will increase it exponentially upon graduation.

There were still bus tickets and bus conductors would come up to check them.

Envelopes were given to us to donate to Sharity Elephant every Children's Day.

You've probably read Young Generation magazine.You know who's Vinny the little vampire and Acai the constable.

You know what PETS are and the hidden animals in all the text pages. You hated penmanship.

Writing lines and caning hands were common, esp if you failed chinese spelling (caning was actually allowed. no shit).

You were there when they first introduced the MRT here. You went for the first ride with your parents and you would kneel on the seat to see the scenery.

Movie tickets used to cost only $3.50.

Gals were fascinated by Strawberry Short Cake and Barbie Dolls.

You learn to laugh like The Count in Sesame Street.

You bought tidbits called beebee (20 cents per pack, 10 cents in MGS), and mamee (30 cents), that had a different sticker in it every time.

You carried a lunch box to school but either threw away the food or brought it back home again.

You watched TV2 (also known as Channel 10) cartoons because Channel 5 never had enough cartoons for you.

Hardy Boys, Nancy Drew, The Three Investigators, Famous Five and Secret Seven were probably the thickest
story books you thought you would ever read.

KFC used to be a high class restaurant that served food in plates and had metal forks and knives. (I dont remember this, anyone?)

The most vulgar thing you said was asshole and idiot and THE MOST EXTREME WAS 'chicken pie'...you just couldn't bring yourself to say the hokkien translation.

Catching and pepsi-cola was the IN thing, and twist was the
magic word.

Your English workbooks were made of some damn poor quality paper that was smooth and yellow.

You came to school 15 mins before the bell every morning just so you could copy someone's homework.

CDIS was your best friend.

The only computer lessons in school involved funny pixellized characters in 16 colours walking about trying to teach you math.

Waterbottles were slung around your neck and a must everywhere you went.

Boys loved to play soccer with small stones or tennis balls in the basketball court.

Girls played five stones and boys played with marbles.

Science was fun with the Balsam and the Angsana being the most important plants of our lives, guppies and swordtail being the most important fishes.

Who can forget Ahmad, Bala, Sumei and John, immortalized in our minds from school textbooks.

We conducted experiments of our own to get badges for being a Young Zoologist/Botanist etc.

Every Children's day and National day you either got pins or pens with 'Happy Children's Day 1993' or useless plastic files with 'Happy National Day 1994'.

You wore BM2000, BATA, or Pallas shoes.

Your form teacher taught you Maths, Science and English.

You went to school in slippers and a raincoat when it rained, and you find a dry spot in the school
to sit down, dry your feet, and wear your dry and warm socks and shoes.

There would be spelling tests and mental sums to do almost everyday (you hated them).

Your friends considered you lucky and rich if your parents gave you $2 or more for pocket mone everyday.

You saw Wee Kim Wee's face in the school hall.

Boys liked catching fighting spiders, earthworms or tadpoles.

Collecting and battling erasers was a pastime for boys.

Class monitors and prefects loved to say, "You talk somemore, I write your name ah!"

Happenings in the class.

As many who read this who have guessed it. The Open No. Game.

It's the hottest game in town now, at least in OT0502.

Due to the really sincerity flowing in Sincere's class, we resorted to playing the Open no. Game in Silent.

You might wonder how it's done. Although we didn't play it really really silently, but it happened during Class!!!

What: Pulau Ubin Trip

Who: abi, chelsea, elaine, hannah, joseph, josephine, jiamay, sarah, shih hui (left in afternoon), yuli. I have this horrible feeling i left someone out but for the life of me i cant figure out who it is. i fail. :(
edit: it turns out to be kiam. oops. :P

When: Wed, 10:00 (theoretically anyway. we moved off at 10:40. :P) - 6pm, whereapon we had a really good dinner at changi village.

This time will be new and improved posts from your favourite bird...i come with pictures! :) If you want all the pics, bug me on messenger. I dont really suggest it tho, the're kinda crappy.

What is Stress?

Paper title: What is stress and it's measurement?

Definition: Stress is defined as a form of tension, a kind of energy caused by any other objects on oneself.

Assumptions:

Energy can not be created nor destroyed.

Energy can be internal or external energy.

Stress is a form of energy.

Methodology:

This paper focuses on the measurement and quantity of stress over a period of time. Stress can be either caused by external or internal influences, however, in this study, we only focus on stress caused by external factors due to the escalated effects internal influence(e.g. Neurotic, paronoid, obsessive-compulsive behavior, depression, etc) can have on oneself that is hard for us to handle. In other words, Hannah Loh is not included in the study.All results are measured and carried out at r.t.p.(room temperature).

Results:

Units for Stress: h

Units for time: weeks

Eqn of graph: Y= (infinity)h^sq + C

Initial rate of change of stress = inifinity

Rate of change decreases initially = the love of what you are doing fades away, and you get more and more tired each day.

When dy/dx = 0, one had reach it's maximum and ceases one to operate functionally.

Discussion:

At maximum point, when rate of change in stress is 0, one comes to an instanteneous rest as
one ceases to operate functionally, and at that split second or day or week or month, one shatters into pieces as mentioned in the graph above, and since stress is a form of energy, stress is transfered into other energy, such as kinetic energy(one starts to ran around like mad dog), sound energy (one starts to scream and cry), potential energy(one starts to struggle with his own mind), etc.

In Abi's Theory, Stress is like a sin curve, where there are peaks at the top and bottom, which could also be another possiblity to discribe Stress. To Hui Law, rate of change of stress decreases as one ceases to operate functionally, shattered into pieces and nv able to stand up again

In my opinion, stress is a scary thing, makes pple work, work harder and eventually overwork and that's when pple can't take it anymore. The most scary thing is rate of change of stress can be infinity.. who can predict how stress you are?

Sometimes to some people in somewhere, an x^sq graph might not even be enough to explain everything about stress..

Hence in conclusion, stress is a invisible monster which can bring you high up and crash you eventually.

okay, so quick sum-up to let u guys who were here relieve the good(?) memories and to give the others an idea of what happened. sorry, no pics, so u get a long monolouge. To facilitate reading (and hopefully relieve boredom), i broke it up into (estimated) times.

2:15pm - left school amidst progressively heavy rain. group consists of abi,chunrui, eunice, hannah, josephine, joseph, kiam and me.

2:52pm - reach my place via mrt and bus (as critiqued by WY, 2006, this is a long and unecessary route.) get sheltered thanks to my very uncommunicative bro, who drops off upbrellas with us and scoots off. i blame the class for being scary. :P

3:06pm - settle down to watch "Fragile", a very touching but horribly scary(er, only i seem to think so tho) movie about hospitals, ghosts, "love kisses" and brittle bone syndrome. Huihui arrives during the movie and leaves before it ends. :( 4 facts about this movie:
1. Chunrui watched it 4 times and cried.
2. We are obsessed with neuro and OT: everyone kept talking abt spina bifida, therapy, etc etc etc. This is obsession, man.
3. Our class watch movie very noisy! yes, u guys are. everyone kept talking throughout the movie! okay, so i was probably the noisiest. i will shut up now.
4. I just found out that Fragile is not even released yet?! or its still previewing. woah. many thanks to CR who brought it (along with other dvds) for us.

4:47pm - Movie ends, people disperse to mahjong (brought by joseph, played by CR later, Eunice, both Jos and Kiam), piano (French fries and eunice later) and folding paper cranes (Abi and CR initially).
Mahjong was initially rather peacable, but with CR, it became a life and death game. she's really...dramatic. :)
Abi and CR (initally) went from folding cranes to carrots. I dont see the link, except for the Cs. And we discover we were folding it wrong! *embarrassed*
Piano was fun! we learnt that JM can play pretty well, so can Eunice, and Sarah is good at bugging people. :P

5:30 and 6:47pm - Hannah, then Eunice and Sarah leave.

7:44pm - Mahjong still in full swing,all other activities stopped. This is a clear indication of class favourite activities. :)
WY starts making her way over to my place.
Abi, JM and i go buy food at Serangoon gardens (Chomp Chomp). With a very terrifying walk for abi involving randomly jaywalking busy roads, we get back with stingray, satay and pizza. supplemented with my mom's pasta, this is dinner.
WY has managed against all odds to make it to my place. She is indeed a pro orienteer. Go wy! :)

Im sick of guessing the timing. anyway, after that was eating, watching s'pore idol (bye joachim!), WY discovering that we were STILL folding the cranes wrong (!), more eating, and talking.

Okay, Im done, not that i think anyone is still paying attention. :P In conclusion, a pretty long day (and night) at my place, fun and laughter all around yes? U guys were really good, self-entertaining guests, and it was a total pleasure to have you all around. My mom loved u guys too (she loves it when people whack her food like that...), and YES abi, she noes who u are now (she asked me who was "that really outgoing girl". what can i say, u attract attention. :D

OKAY IM DONE. whee! oh yeah, can start thinking abt nex outing for after clinicals...get everyone together! :)

LAST COURT SESSION, Ms MAE L's lawyer, Ms JoN, presented a valuable and enlightening information about hidden lives of a chicken.See below for a refresh.(impressive info below) "Adapted from this site http://www.goveg.com/f-hiddenliveschickens.asp Leading animal behavior scientists from across the globe now tell us that chickens are inquisitive and interesting animals whose cognitive abilities are more advanced than those of cats, dogs, and even some primates. Chickens understand sophisticated intellectual concepts, learn from watching each other, demonstrate self-control, worry about the future, and even have cultural knowledge that is passed from generation to generation. Chickens comprehend cause-and-effect relationships and understand that objects still exist even after they are hidden from view.2 This puts the cognitive abilities of chickens above those of small human children.3"
This session, Ms Mae L's PROSECUTOR , PERSECUTER and EXECUTER, Ms AbiL would like to rebutt with these points.(here is the purely entertaining bit)
1) from what i understand, the website is set up in hope to promote ethical treatment towards animals. I would like to remind everyone that the issue here is not about making lifestyle/personal choices- whether to go vegetarian. Or in MACRO terms, to prevent cruelty to animals.But rather, we are just talking about this unique breed of "bird", the MAE.
2) While i would like to acknowledge the intelligence of Chickens, afterall, Chickens give us protein and according to anthropologists (or scientists), protein was one of the causes of evolution for primates.To much of my dismay, MAE does not belong to the Chicken family. It is obvious as she doesnt lay eggs overtly.
3) Just as all of you are about to dismiss her as a mammal (becos she doesnt lay eggs), i would like to infer from the quote above provided by Mae's lawyer, that the cognitive abilities of all beings on earth are similar and they only vary in degrees.
4) So, we cannot conclude that Mae is a bird. nor is she of any kind of species.
5) Recently, planet Pluto, with the advancement of science and Man's never dying curiosity,has been booted out of our solar system. Fortunately, for it, we have a "humane" side so much that we decided to call it a mini planet and gave it 2 or 3 other brothers ( a new family).
6) I, AbiL, hereby appeal to the court with two fair and conservative options. First, like planet pluto, to keep her on earth becos our advancement in science has yet been able to classify her.We will boot her soon.this is the best option so that we wont offend both animal lovers and humanity of the human race.We cant afford another war. Second, she has enjoyed so much attention due to her pouting and....( i shall not name them). We can execute her in the Netherlands(not NEVERLAND) where euthanasia is legalised.
7) To much of our dismay, we cant classify the MAE anywhere. SO, it is advised that she should be DISMAED. Thank you.

4) Describe the gross anatomy of the eye.Name the muscles involved in rolling the eyes upwards.
5) Perform a PROM on her wings.

4 husbands were sitting at the waiting room in a hospital while waiting for their wives to give birth.

Then a nurse came out and told the first daddy, "Congratulations, you've got twins!"

"Ohh.. maybe it's a coincidence" said the daddy. "I am working with Petronas twin Towers".

Then another nurse came out and told the second daddy, "Congratulations! you have triplets!"

"Wooww! this is a coincidence too" said the second daddy. "I'm working for 3M Corporation".

Another nurse came out and told the third daddy, "Congratulations! you got four(quadruplets),"

"Maybe this is also a coincidence, I work at Four Seasons Hotel!" said the third daddy.

The fourth daddy-to-be was overcome with worry.

All the 3 daddies asked him, "Why are you so worried??"

He answered, "I am working with Seven-Eleven!"

Lesson Number One:
A crow was sitting on a tree, doing nothing all day.
A small rabbit saw the crow, and asked him, "Can I also sit like you and do nothing all day long?" The crow answered: "Sure, why not."
So, the Rabbit sat on the ground below the crow, and rested.
All of a sudden, a fox appeared, jumped on the rabbit and ate it.

Moral of the story: To be sitting and doing nothing, you must be sitting very, very high up. *************************

Lesson Number Two:
A turkey was chatting with a bull. "I would love to be able to get to the top of that tree," sighed the turkey, "but I haven't got the energy."
"Well, why don't you nibble on some of my droppings?" replied the bull. "They're packed with nutrients." The turkey pecked at a lump of dung and found that it actually gave him enough strength to reach the first branch of the tree. The next day, after eating some more dung, he reached the second branch.
Finally after a fortnight, there he was proudly perched at the top of the tree.
Soon, he was promptly spotted by a farmer, who shot the turkey out of the tree.

Moral of the story: Bullshit might get you to the top, but it won't keep you there. *************************

Lesson Number Three:
A little bird was flying south for the winter. It was so cold, the bird froze and fell to the ground in a large field. While it was lying there, a cow came by and dropped some dung on it. As the frozen bird lay there in the pile of cow dung, it began to realize how warm it was. The dung was actually thawing him out! He lay there all warm and happy, and soon began to sing for joy. A passing cat heard the bird singing and came to investigate. Following the sound, the cat discovered the bird under the pile of cow dung, and promptly dug him out and ate him!

The morals of this story are:
1) Not everyone who drops shit on you is your enemy.
2) Not everyone who gets you out of shit is your friend.
3) And when you're in deep shit, keep your mouth shut

You're Always By My Side.......(very ''touching'')

A man was walking across the road when he met with an accident. The impact was on his head which caused him to be in a coma for 2 days.

When he opened his eyes, his wife was by his side. He told her (in tears), "When I was struggling with my studies in the University, I failed again and again. Sometimes I even have to re-take my papers. You were there by my side, encouraging me to go on trying."

She squeezed his hands as he continued, "When I went for major interviews and failed to clinch any of the jobs, you were there, cutting out the job ads for me to apply..."

He added, " ...then I started working in this little firm and finally got a big contract. I blew it because of a small mistake. But you are still there for me." His wife was in tears.

The man said, "I finally got a job after being laid off for quite some time. But I never seem to be promoted and my hard work was not recognised. I remained in the same position from the day I joined the company till now. You are still beside me..."

His wife's tears trickled down as she listened to him, "And now I met with an accident and when I woke up, you are here with me. There's something I really like to say to you..."

She flung herself on the bed and hug her husband, sobbing with deep emotion. Finally her husband said,............. "I think you bring me bad luck-lah."

This is suppose to be a touching story, erm, but i was given a choice to rewrite the ending, so i chose this ending..haha
Hope it's funny.not lame.
